Dear Parents and Children,

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to Owls class. We hope you are excited to embark upon the next stage of your learning, with creative, fun and exciting experiences ahead. I feel it is important to share some key information you may require.

Children are required to have their P.E. kit on a Monday and Friday for P.E. lessons. However, there may be other times during the week when children will need their kits. They can leave their kits in school until half term when it can be taken home and washed. If children have pierced ears, earrings will need to be taken out for health and safety, or covered over with a plaster if they are newly pierced.

We will send home spellings and times tables weekly. Homework will be sent out on a Friday and is to be completed and returned by the following Wednesday.

We aim to listen to your child read in a guided group at least once a week. Please make time to read with your child and encourage them to discuss the text. Please make a record of their reading in their record book. Aim to spend time every day practising their speed sounds, using Freddy Fingers or extending their reading experiences by exploring other books. Please remember to send reading books into school every day.

Library books are to be brought in and changed every week. Please do not forget to find out which day is our library session!

Please see the matrix in the Curriculum section of the website to see what the children will be learning this year.

Please ensure all clothing, including P.E. kits, pumps, shoes and coats have names in – either printed name labels or hand written in permanent pen. P.E. kit bags are available to purchase from the office.

Water Bottles
Please encourage your child to bring a water bottle to school every day. This will avoid dehydration and unnecessary walks to the water fountain!

Please let the school know if your child has any allergies or health issues.

We look forward to a fun and hard working year in Owls!

Mrs Brophy
