‘Radio Evelyn – the best children’s station for all your news and views’
Every week school work stops to listen to the latest edition of Radio Evelyn. Programmes are presented by Miss Macleod or the children. Our programmes vary according to the age of the children, their reading ability and the number of features included that week.
Earlier in the week we plan and prepare for the programme. We have found a group of 8 children to be the most suitable to take part each week. We collect school news or to do research and interviews. Teachers are aware of this weekly session and are always willing to help with the news-gathering. Highlights each week include the announcing of our class Merit winners, Reading Stars and Maths Magicians, as well as a few jokes to make us giggle!
Presenting a radio programme is a great life skill, as the children learn to articulate clearly and with enthusiasm and it is a great boost to their confidence.
